*How long have you been in business?
DJs To Go began operations in 1980.

*Do you have bi-lingual DJs?
Yes, we currently have several to choose from who speak Spanish.

*How many years of professional experience do you have?
Because we have 8 DJs we have a range.  The least experienced DJ has approximately 6 years of experience.  The most experienced DJ has nearly 30 years of experience.  Most of the DJs To Go disc jockeys have been with the company 7 to 9 years.

*What type of music is your specialty?
Because we have several DJs, we have nearly every specialty covered with an experienced professional.

*Can I see my DJ performing before I sign any paperwork?
Inviting you to another bride's wedding would be in very poor taste.  The good news, is that we won't invite any unexpected guests to your wedding.  We've found that meeting face to face with your DJ is the best way to determine if he or she is the right person for you.  Occasionally, we provide entertainment for a public event.  We would encourage you to visit your prospective DJ there if possible.  You may also view client evaluations about your DJ.

*Why do you use DJ contracts?
Contracts spell out clearly what you will be provided and what is expected.  Contracts also commit your DJ to being at your event.  DJs To Go doesn't want you to have any last minute surprises.  We've found that putting things in writing seems to clear things up and make most brides and grooms more comfortable.  In addition, contracts are a normal and expected part of being an experienced professional.  DJs who work on a hand shake agreement tend to "flake out" at the last minute and leave their clients in a tough spot.

*Can DJs To Go Provide Ceremony Music?
Yes, we play ceremony music very regularly.  Depending on the configuration of your venue, you may need a second sound system.  If you do, there is a small additional charge, normally $100.

*Do your DJs take breaks?
Normally, DJs do not take breaks.

*Does the DJ act as an announcer and emcee?
This is a normal part of being a DJ.  Several DJ companies charge extra for talking into a microphone.  DJs To Go does NOT up charge for this service.

*Does DJs To Go allow guests to make music requests?
If the bride and groom say it's OK, we accept requests.  If the bride and groom ask their DJ not to accept requests, your DJ will play only the music you've asked to have played.  It's your day, your musical selections can be anything you'd like them to be.

*Does DJs To Go provide a sound system?
Yes, the equipment used is guaranteed in writing.  The sound systems are checked for functionality every one to two weeks to make sure no one gets a malfunctioning system.  Additionally, each DJ fills out an equipment report after every event to report any gear problems.

*Will you allow us to control the volume of the music?
Yes, many venues have volume issues with neighboring buildings and homes.  Your DJ can play music as low or loud as you would like.  Most people like and need volume that is appropriate for the moment, not too loud or too soft.

*How much time does the DJ need to set up?
All DJs To Go disc jockeys arrive at least an hour before the doors open.  This allows your DJ time to set up equipment and coordinate the day's events with the captain of the room.  Coordination with the house staff is important to ensure a flawless event.  This time is already included in the total cost.  There is no charge for the early arrival of your DJ.

*What will the DJ wear?
All DJs To Go disc jockeys wear tuxedos unless otherwise specified.

*Do you charge extra for travel and set up?
Normally, there is no travel fee.

*What is your policy for overtime?
Additional performance hours are on an "as needed" basis.  Your DJ will stay as long as you need him or her.  Extra performance hours are normally $100 to $200.

*How much is the deposit?
A deposit of $250 or $350 is average for most weddings.  Your deposit may vary depending on several factors.  DJs To Go accepts most brands of credit cards, checks and cash for deposit payment.  DJs are normally paid the balance on the day of your wedding.  The balance should be made payable directly to your DJ.  Some DJs accept credit card payment for their services and some do not.  Please check directly with your DJ.

*What is the DJs To Go cancellation policy?
Contracts have a 30 day cancellation policy.

*How many events do you perform at?
DJs To Go currently has DJs performing at approximately 300 events per year.  Ninety five percent of these events are weddings.  The remaining percentage is divided among corporate holiday parties, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, birthdays, anniversary parties, class reunions and production events.

*How many DJs do you have?
DJs To Go currently represents 8 experienced DJs.

*What does a DJ cost?
The range is normally from $550 to $900 for 4 hours.  Additional hours range from $100 to $195 per hour.  Most DJs are around the middle of the range at $750 for 4 hours.  A normal cost for DJ entertainment for a 5 hour wedding is $875.  These rates vary by DJ and by the day of the week.  We offer a discount for Friday, Sunday and weekday events.  This pricing includes a complete sound system, a wireless microphone and dance lighting.  There are normally no travel fees.  There are exceptions to this pricing, please call 310 798 8711 for more information.

*How do I book my DJ?
DJs To Go will send you equipment rental and DJ performance contracts.  Sign and date both the DJs To Go equipment rental page and the DJ performance page.  The deposit amount to book your big day is located near the bottom of your equipment rental contract.  The amount is normally $250 or $350 but may vary a bit for your event.  Send everything to the office or fax it to 310 496 3249.  DJs To Go accepts all major brands of credit cards as well as checks for deposits.  You will pay your DJ on the day of your event.

*How do I pay my DJ?
DJs are normally paid on the day of your event.  All DJs accept cash and checks.  Some also accept credit cards.  Check with your DJ about his or her payment options.

*What else does the DJ do?
DJs To Go is a full service DJ company.  After hand selecting your DJ, you will normally meet with your entertainer two to four weeks before your wedding day to map out a game plan.  Your DJ will walk you through your wedding one step at a time.  All you should do on your wedding day is show up and have fun.  Your DJ is also your emcee.

*Will the DJ I have chosen perform at my wedding?
DJs To Go guarantees in writing that the DJ you choose is the DJ that plays music at your event.  Many DJ companies have a “substitution clause” that allows them to send any DJ they want.  DJs To Go does not operate that way.  The DJ you meet and like is the DJ you’ll see on your big day.

*What if my DJ gets sick on my wedding day?
Although the DJ you choose is the DJ that is guaranteed to perform at your wedding, people sometimes get sick and have accidents.  In this case, another experienced and qualified DJ will take the place of your DJ.  Because we have so many DJs, you will never be stuck without a DJ at the last minute.

*What kind of music do you play?
Music selection for your big day is normally a combination of efforts between you and your DJ.  Tell your DJ what you like and what you don’t like.  He or she will play your requests and definitely not play the songs you don’t want to hear.  You can make as many or as few requests as you’re comfortable with.  If you know the name of every song you want to hear, that’s great.  If you don’t know any song names or artists, your DJ will read the crowd and play what appears to be appropriate for your friends and family members.

DJs To Go normally stays away from the extremes in music.  That is to say, the DJs don’t normally play any angry gang rap or violent heavy metal.  Please bear in mind, they will play anything your ask them to play.  DJs normally provide all the music you’ll need for your party.  However, you may want to provide your DJ with a CD if you have some very specific song versions you'd like to hear.

*How old are your DJs?
Most of the DJs range from 30 and up.  We don’t have any very young DJs because we’ve found that most of our clientele require more sophisticated and mature entertainers.

*What if the sound system breaks?
DJs To Go keeps 8 sound systems ready to go at all times.  We give each system a complete check up every one to two weeks to insure complete functionality.  DJs To Go also updates equipment on a regular and ongoing basis.  In addition, each DJ fills out an equipment report at the end of every event.  If anything on any system is not working, DJs To Go management will receive a report and fix the problem before it gets to your event.

If you do happen to get a piece of equipment that malfunctions, each DJ has full access to the complete line of equipment.  Your DJ can pick up another system from the DJs To Go inventory.  In the case that the DJ is too far from the gear storage area, each DJ is authorized to purchase any equipment that is necessary to keep your event going.  Your wedding will not crash because of equipment issues.  DJs always carry back up equipment.

*What are your office hours?
DJs To Go is normally open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM  Monday through Friday.  We are also available in the evenings and on weekends by appointment.
